Care for and Teach Children in Kindergarten in Bali, Indonesia, with Travellers Worldwide

Volunteering, Gap Year or Career Break in Indonesia

Care for and teach English to young Balinese children; aged 4 to 5 years old, whose curious minds and natural friendliness gives you the opportunity to make a real impact. You'll encourage the children to learn and grow creatively, thus sowing the seeds for a greater future in years to come.

The Kindergarten offers free kindergarten education to 4-5 year old children from poor villages in and around the area. The local children are warm and affectionate and would rather spend time playing than learning.

If you dream of making a lifelong impact, experiencing the real Bali lifestyle and becoming an important part of the local community, then this is the project for you!

Care for and Teach Children in Kindergarten in Bali, Indonesia, with Travellers Worldwide

This project gives you the chance to encourage children to learn and grow creatively. Apart from teaching them language and communication skills, you have a unique opportunity to sow seeds at this tender age from which they stand to benefit for years to come. As you spend time teaching the local children, you will be embraced by and become an important part of the local community.

The kindergarten is based in the culturally rich town of UBUD. The ages of the children range between 4 -5 years old, thus requiring you to have a natural sense and understanding of their behaviour as you will be surrounded by them throughout your day; but also taking into consideration you will be one of the few or first Westerners they have met, and thus a natural curiosity is to be expected.

The kindergarten is like any other throughout the world; the children prefer to play and have fun more than to be formally “taught” thus making it your responsibility to get them enthusiastic about coming to school and learning.

Your work will mostly be focused around teaching the children basic English words and phrases through fun activities like songs and games.

You may also be asked to help out in caring for the children (ie accompanying them to the toilet, helping them get ready for nap time, etc).

By slowly building their confidence in language and communication you will place the foundations for a lifelong love and curiosity of learning, which will help them in many ways in their future. The time spent with the local community and children will prove to be a highly rewarding opportunity for you, knowing just how great your impact was.

Indonesia is still a developing country thus the living standard falls short of what we are used to in the West. The Balinese culture and heritage is totally different to Anglo-Saxon or Western cultures. However, the people are very friendly and will help you all they can, and, of course, you will be well looked after during your placement!

Our projects in Bali are worthwhile and lots of fun, and you're sure to have a wonderful time during your stay - your adventure has begun :-)
